Status: Temporary, Non-Exempt Hours: 20-40 hours/week (negotiable) Compensation: $19.61/hour Reports to: Manager of Volunteer Services Job Summary: The Food Pantry Associate is responsible for supporting the West Valley Community Services food pantry and mobile food pantry under the direction of the Manager of Volunteer Services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Follow daily setup and take-down procedures. Support and participate in grocery rescue pick-ups for the food pantry. Load and unload groceries from the vans. Stock pantry shelves, and packing bags for distribution to clients. Assist volunteers and staff with the distribution of food to clients. Conduct inventory of stock to ensure the levels are sufficient for the expected number of clients. Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards. Work with the Manager of Volunteer Services to ensure and maintain the effectiveness of the food program. Notify the Manager of Volunteer Services of any needed repairs or services changes. Positive attitude and desire to help WVCS in their mission to provide services in a professional and dignified environment. Strong team orientation, interpersonal and problem solving skills, maturity in judgment and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Excellent verbal communication skills. Energy, creativity, initiative, pleasant personality, sense of humor and enthusiasm. Understanding of and commitment to West Valley Community Services’ mission, purpose and goals. Ability to remain courteous and respectful of volunteers, clients, members of the community and colleagues at all times. Ability to perform job tasks in a safe manner at all times. Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record Ability to drive agency vehicles as required to accomplish authorized Agency business.
