Today the City of New Orleans announced that the Fox Television series "Queen of the South" will be filming scenes at 19731 Chef Menteur Hwy. on Wednesday, Feb. 10 (between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.) and on Thursday, Feb. 11 (between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Some of the filming activity will include the simulation of automatic, semi-automatic gunfire and special effects on both filming days including Wednesday, Feb. 10 (7 a.m.–7 pm.) and Thursday, Feb. 11 (10 a.m.–6 p.m). In addition, a simulated explosion will take place on the property on Wednesday, Feb. 10, between the approximate hours of 9 a.m.–3 p.m. A travel lane closure will occur at 19732 Chef Menteur Hwy. in the right-side westbound lane on Thursday, Feb. 11 (6:30 p.m. –11 p.m.). Orleans Parish Sheriff's Officers and the New Orleans Fire Department will be on-site to help facilitate filming and to ensure the overall safety of surrounding residents and vehicular traffic. Film New Orleans in the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy assists production with City permits, connects productions with local crew and resources and facilitates communication between productions and the local community.
