In the past Rodemeyer Roofing has posted the prototypical Roofing Contractor job postings, that matched the industry standard and we still have struggled to find the right candidate for each role. Recently when contemplating why, it hit us. We started a roofing company because there was a significant need in the marketplace for a contractor that could provide education and excellence from the sales presentation to the final inspection at a higher level. So why is it we are trying to look for production team members like everyone else, when it comes to a job posting? We are looking for individuals who love being in the field and feel they must move into sales or other roles to make more money. We remember what it was like to try and climb the corporate ladder and not knowing if we would like the next role. This is the way majority of companies are structured. Keep your nose clean, do not rock the boat, and they will promote you into a role you are not sure you want, so they can justify your increased compensation package. The mantra our President lived by during his time at Gaco Western while building the largest coating market in the country was simple. “If you aren’t almost getting fired, you aren’t trying hard enough”. This may confuse some of you as you read this, and that is fine, simply do not apply. For the rest of you that are intrigued, allow us to explain. We said “almost getting fired” meaning you are not engaging in any illegal activities or lack integrity. You are simply operating at such a high level and thinking outside the box, that the people around you are confused. It takes others so long to figure out that you are an innovator, they contemplate whether you fit the company model or not. We need Rockstar’s on our roofs producing exceptional work, that love being in the field. Run through walls for our organization and we will show you what is on the other side of that wall.
