HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – A 34-year-old Hackettstown who was arrested over the weekend on several charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, after police found him slumped behind the steering wheel of his car after it hit a snowbank, police said Monday. Jorge Chacon-Ruiz was arrested Friday night after police found his vehicle on Route 46 at 11:23 p.m., after police were contacted by a motorist who said they saw Chacon-Ruiz's vehicle hit the snowbank. Police were told by the other driver that it appeared Chacon-Ruiz was intoxicated at the time, police said. Police arrived to find Chacon-Ruiz slumped behind the wheel of the car and officers had to awaken Chacon-Ruiz and then put the vehicle in park, police said. While police were speaking to Chacon-Ruiz, they detected a small odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, police said. Chacon-Ruiz was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing passage of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving, police said. Chacon-Ruiz was released into the custody of a friend pending a court appearance.
