By Jon DePaolis, the Richard Free Press: FRANKFORT, Ill. — The Village of Frankfort Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday, Feb. 1, to enter into an agreement with Robinson Engineering for improvements for the Jackson Creek lift station. The 6-0 vote, which came as part of the Consent Agenda, approved the improvements in an amount not to exceed $41,000. Trustee Adam Borrelli discussed the agreement during the meeting. He said the Jackson Creek lift station services an area in the southwest region of the Village. He also said it was designed to be readily expandable to serve both current and future needs. Borrelli said the project includes: upgrading the lift station's capacity by adding a new, 8-inch, high-flow pump; replacing the existing outdated control panel; and connecting the new control panel into the Village's master supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. He said the proposal from Robinson Engineering included $25,000 for engineering, design, preparation of bidding documents, and bidding assistance. Robinson Engineering also proposed construction administration and field observation services on an hourly basis in an amount not to exceed $16,000. Borrelli said the cost of the project was included in the fiscal year budget. Later during the meeting, the board members celebrated the launch of the Village's Facebook page. "Several trustees have been advocating for the Village to have a social media presence," said Mayor Jim Holland in a news release that was issued after the page went live. "As part of an improved communication strategy, we decided to upgrade our website to a more user-friendly format and now we are launching a Facebook page. The upgraded website was completed last quarter, and this quarter, we are proceeding with the Facebook page. We hope that adding this channel of communication enhances the communication and information flow from the Village to our residents."
