First-Come, First-Serve Iredell Vaccination Event Set For Friday

MOORESVILLE, NC — Iredell County Health Department is holding a drive-thru vaccination event in North Iredell Friday, offering a free coronavirus vaccine to anyone over 65, high-risk medical providers, and first responders. The news comes as county health officials announce ICHD will soon transition from first-come, first serve mass vaccination events to appointment-based vaccination clinics. The Feb. 12 vaccination event will be held at North Iredell High School, located at 156 Raider Road in Olin beginning at 10 a.m. Health officials ask that participants print out and complete a registration form, which may be found here. "Numbers will be handed out upon arrival. Everyone that receives a number will be vaccinated. If you do not receive a number, there will be additional vaccination clinics," Iredell County Health Department said. The county health department will soon transition to an online appointment system for vaccination events, it said. "We ask for patience during this transition, and always welcome feedback from the community," ICHD said. "Please do not call the Iredell County Health Department to schedule an appointment." Iredell County residents currently have four options for accessing vaccines in the county. Iredell County Health Department, Iredell Memorial Hospital, Davis Regional Hospital and Lake Norman Regional Hospital are the only healthcare providers administering the vaccine. As of Feb. 8, nearly 20,000 vaccines had been administered in Iredell County, of which about 15,000 were first doses and more than 5,000 second doses, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
