remodel carpenter and helper/laborer

Jobs

Spokane WA

Description

General contractor seeking one carpenter and one helper/laborer. I run a small but growing contracting business specializing mostly in insurance work, and some private remodels, additions, decks siding and windows, etcetera. I am looking for a well rounded remodel carpenter with at least 4 years of experience but obviously more experience is better, I know there are not many people out there with the aptitude to develop a well rounded skill set in just 4 years. On small jobs I do most things in house. On jobs big enough to be attractive to subcontractors I use them. I'm looking for someone with experience in the following: -- Concrete - forming, pouring, and finishing -- Framing -- Drywall- hanging, finishing, texture -- Painting -- light plumbing and electrical ( changing out fixtures ) -- Cabinets and countertops -- Flooring (vinyl plank, laminate, wood) -- Tile ( floors, backsplashes, showers, tub decks ) -- Interior finish work ( I'm a "little" picky about finish quality. All Stain grade base gets coped, miters are ok if its getting painted, and I tune my doors with the stops so they don't rattle. ) -- Exterior finish work -- Windows -- Siding -- Roofing I f you are missing some of this stuff its not a big deal, anyone who can do most of it has the skills to learn the rest quickly. please do not b.s. me about what you can and can't do I'm an accredited journeyman carpenter my self and have been in the trades since 1994. I know exactly what I'm looking at. On to the must haves: -- No felonies, not currently on parole or probation -- Be able to pass a background check -- No illegal drugs -- Phone in your pocket is fine, for emergency use, guys who talk on their phones and read/send text messages are distracted, make stupid mistakes and are not productive -- Reliable transportation ( A truck preferably, you may occasionally have to stop on your way to a job to pick up an order) if you are sharing a vehicle with your significant other you would have a really -- Punctual-0 -- Productive -- Able to keep a helper busy and learning. I am on the jobsite playing carpenter my self most days, but will be coming and going a bit dealing with project management, material aquisition, quotes etcetera. I need someone who can free me up to do this as I just keep getting busier. For the right person I see this turning into a working foreman position and if you have good computer skills possibly a project manager position in the future As far as the helper laborer position goes it would be great if you basic power tool knowledge and new how to use a level and read a tape without counting the 1/16 marks individually. The biggest thing is that you are dependable, hard working, able/willing to learn. Oh, and an understanding of basic math ( addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, light geometry ) would be good to. It will be hard to advance without it.
