Description
Seeking an early bird to be my right-hand, morning person to start the day on the farm. Position involves milking 100 cows in a cozy, WARM, stall barn with cows that have names and big personalities. Position also includes some physical labor of barn cleaning and occasional calf help.
Hours are approx. 4:30am-10:00am (varies depending on weather)
*Must work a minimum of 5 days/week, ideally Monday-Friday but will not turn down someone who wants more hours or weekend shifts. Minimum requirement: 25hrs/week.
Requirements:
Must enjoy working with and caring for animals, especially cows
Must be comfortable being close to large animals (tie stall and free stall barns)
Must value animal care and cleanliness
Must be comfortable with physical work and find it satisfying
Must consistently have a positive attitude and be easy to work with
Must be able to work independently with limited direction (after training)
Must be able to lift ~50lbs - hay, feed, lime, straw, buckets of water or milk, etc.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Must be a quick learner, seeking someone with leadership qualities
Preference will be given to candidates who have milking or dairy farming experience or for someone who grew up or works in the dairy industry
Salary: $15/hour after training
