Standard TV and Appliance, the largest independently owned appliance retailer, is hiring a GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER to complete projects, repairs and safety inspections for all Standard and TV Appliance locations. PAY STARTS AT $22/HR + BENEFITS!!! • Employee Discount Program on Purchases • Health and Dental Insurance • Paid Time Off • 401K with Profit Sharing! • Stable company atmosphere (over 70 years in business!) • PLUS FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Coordinate with the Operations Manager on a daily basis for high priority items that need immediate attention before starting regular workday. • Consult with the Operations Manager and General Maintenance Supervisor on maintenance/light construction projects such as framing, drywall installation, joint taping, finish work, painting, repair or replacement of exterior/interior lights, fix hand railings, minor electrical and plumbing, etc. that need to be completed and generate timelines for completing those projects. • Drive a van to pick up maintenance or construction supplies. • Install and remove built-in appliances. • Respond to requests from store managers as assigned by the Operations Manager and work with the General Maintenance Supervisor to determine and complete maintenance, construction, and repair projects. • Fertilize, apply herbicides, mow, edge, and trim trees and shrubbery at Standard TV & Appliance sties as required. • Perform periodic safety inspections of emergency exit signs, fire extinguishers, and lube locks at all locations as required. Complete necessary repairs/replacements as needed. • Perform routine inspections of property at the “W” warehouse ensuring the property is clean and secure. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in building maintenance, general contracting, or relevant experience. • Provide evidence of current driver’s license (must be in good standing). • Maintain a clean driving record (no more than 3 accidents/tickets within a 3-year period or no more than 2 accidents/tickets within a 1-year period. No DUI’s. • Fluency in English (written & verbal). • Must be organized and possess the ability to prioritize work projects. • Ability to work and complete projects with minimal supervision. • Ability to use basic hand and power tools. • Ability to perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs. • Ability to work positively in a team environment. • Ability to work a 40-hour week flexible schedule, some overtime, and occasional weekends and nights. • Ability to qualify to be insured under company insurance policy. • Provide own basic hand tools including circular saw and cordless drill (specialty tools are provided by the Company). • Ability to lift/carry up to 120 pounds independently and 300 pounds with assistance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Project management experience preferred. • Pool/hot tub maintenance. • Knowledge of Portland metro area.
