Bear Creek Cleanup

Description
Litter removal/cleanup event of Bear Creek and surrounding neighborhoods. Please join us for the first cleanup event of Bear Creek and it's surrounding neighborhoods in St. Petersburg. Each year 80% of the debris entering our waterways is introduced from inland areas (streets, storm-drains, lakes, ponds, etc.) through our watersheds and into the global waterway, our oceans. In addition to consumer-based debris, our watersheds can transport excess nutrients which can have a detrimental impact on the health of downstream ecosystems. To combat this issue, Keep Pinellas Beautiful partners with volunteers, organizations, and community groups throughout Pinellas County to host cleanups and beautification initiatives in an effort to help to raise awareness in the community and remove harmful debris from entering into our waterways. Please join Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Jeff Williams for a rewarding morning of community improvement, engagement, and beautification. *** WHERE TO MEET: We'll meet at Bear Creek Park. (60th Street & 1st Ave N) at 9 AM. Street parking is located along 1st Ave N. WHAT TO WEAR: Please wear closed toed shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirty. We recommend a hat or sunglasses, too. Bring your PPE, a snack, and your reusable water bottle! WHAT TO EXPECT: This event is 2 hours long. We will provide sunscreen, bug spray, gloves, trash bags, and hand sanitizer. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Ellington at [email protected]. *** COVID-19 ADVISORY In light of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we want to emphasize that volunteer and staff safety is a top priority for us. Keep Pinellas Beautiful is taking the necessary precautions for safe events (providing gloves and hand sanitizer at events and asking that volunteers continue to be cautious and keep safe distances, as well as stay home if they are feeling ill). We are closely following the updates and advice from multiple sources, including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), Florida Department of Health, Keep America Beautiful and Pinellas County. Please feel free to reach out via email with any questions or concerns. We thank you in advance for your understanding and look forward to working with you as we continue our mission to keep Pinellas County clean, green and healthy!
