Come explore the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay, the largest ship graveyard in the western hemisphere! Mallows Bay is a newly designated national marine wildlife sanctuary, and really wonderful example of the ways that humans and nature interact. Over 100 ships have been sunk at Mallows Bay over the last century and a half, and some truly unique flora and fauna have learned to call the old ships home. We will thread our way through all of the different ships, from the World War I vessels to an old passenger ferry.
Kayak programs take place on the National Park Service’s Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and were established with the support of the National Park Service’s Chesapeake Bay Gateways office. Kayaks are provided so all you need to bring is water, a snack, and your binoculars! No children under 12
