Description

Malama Hele Foundation is a new nonprofit in development seeking volunteers. Malama Hele which means to constantly care hopes to be everyone’s exit opportunity when they are seeking to sell their homes and condos. Our intent is to create permanently more affordable properties, properties where everyone becomes an owner without the downsides of foreclosure risk, loss of equity, financing barriers and it will be a highly-connected social-economic network of owner-members with built in safety nets. Malama Hele will have easy entry and exit while also allowing members first access to the entire affordable portfolio of properties as members seek to downsize, upsize or relocate. Malama Hele will also be able to strengthen rural land protection efforts, local farming and help address difficult beach protection issues and much more. Malama Hele will re-localize our housing economy and strengthen the entire housing industry. Creative innovative housing projects throughout the islands will find a welcome partner in Malama Hele. However, we are not funded yet. We are seeking a handful of volunteers to help us lay some further groundwork. Here are some tasks we could use assistance on. 1. Research & data entry: Working at your home you can help us locate the housing trades businesses across the island and enter them into a software program. 2. Learning the software program and sharing that learning so we can optimize its potential. 3. Retired Bank or Credit Union executives needed to review the model and considerations of the lending industry. 4. If you are a Realtor, property manager, own a housing trade business, an executive at a bank or credit union, a non-profit housing executive or government official, or working interested in promoting affordable housing in Hawaii, say Aloha and talk story with us. 5. Fundraising, grant writing, networking. This is an opportunity where you can make a tremendous difference by offering assistance when it's most needed to shift the housing story in Hawaii to one that can transform this difficult affordability and access issue.
