Description
Support your local shelter and homeless kitties by making a Kitty Socialization bag! You will save the lives and help kitties find homes! This class requires some basic sewing skills, and is a GREAT companion to our Beginning Sewing Series! Tired of the typical "make an apron" class that really doesn't teach you how to sew? Don't need another tote bag, but you'd like to sew something fun and make a difference? We think that you can change the world one project at a time, so we've teamed up with the Aurora Animal Shelter to make a difference in the lives of kitties who need homes! In this class, you'll make a Kitty Socialization tote, which helps kitties get acclimated and ready for adoption much faster than with a few hang out sessions a day. Kitties can ride around with their foster parents and learn about the world and how awesome it is from the comfort of their own tote! The totes are washable and durable so they can be used many times to help kitties find their forever homes. Once you've completed the tote in class, you'll write a note to the kitties which will be placed in the tote, and the totes will be donated to the foster parents for kitty care. We hope to have the foster parents send pictures of happy kitties enjoying their tote to us via Facebook so you can see the impact you've made in the lives of our furry friends. PLUS! At the end of class, you'll get the pattern so you can go home and make totes for your favorite shelter! They need them! Not only will you be helping to save lives, you'll also learn how to sew with knits, practice inserting a zipper, add straps to a bag, and work with varied stretch materials! All valuable skills for a new sewer! This class does require you have some experience using a sewing machine and sewing seams for best results for the kitties. Bring your machine or use one of ours! Prerequisites We recommend you have some sewing practice before taking this class, like our Beginning Sewing Series. If you've sewn in the past and know your way around but want to get reacquainted with making things, this is the perfect class for you! Beginners welcome!! You DO NOT need to know how to insert a zipper for this class, we will help you with that...but you do need to know how to use a machine and a bit about pinning and seams.
