I have a two year old Buff Orpington layer hen who must find a good home before March 20th. My family will relocate to an apartment in another state and can't take her with us for obvious reasons. She gets along well with other chickens, people, and our dog, usually comes when called, seems to enjoy being held, and is a reliable layer, providing a large brown egg a day nearly year-round, even in winter. She is affectionate, communicative, and is practically a pet. This hen is the last of four that we kept in our backyard. One was a broiler which died of a heart attack when it grew too large. Another died when an egg ruptured inside her. The third was killed by a possum which came into the yard and cornered her. Our remaining hen needs to be with another backyard flock, or people, and will earn her keep with the eggs that she lays. If you have a good heart and ideally a small backyard flock, please call, text, or email me as soon as possible. She is free and I will provide feeders, waterers, feed, a coop heater, and even a small house/nesting area for her.
