SARASOTA, FL — A 74-year-old man riding a bike was killed Monday afternoon in a Siesta Key crash involving a trolley operated by Sarasota County Area Transit, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. Both the bicyclist and the trolley were traveling southbound on Midnight Pass Road at Stickney Point Road around 1:30 p.m. The bicyclist turned in front of the trolley as they entered the intersection, violating the trolley driver's right-of-way, FHP said. The cyclist was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead on the scene by Sarasota County EMS. Like what you're reading?
