Description
BROCKTON, MA — A local teacher saved the day on Friday by calling 911 when a student's house caught on fire during a remote lesson, said the Brockton Fire Department in a news release.
The fire started around 12 p.m. during a fourth grade class taking place via Zoom. A student told the teacher that smoke was coming from the basement and the teacher could hear the smoke alarm going off in the child's house. The teacher called 911 immediately and provided the child's address to the dispatcher.
Brockton firefighters responded to find a fire in the basement that looked like it was caused by a stick on incense that fell into some clothing.
Officials said the fire was confined to a small area and there was no serious damage or injuries.
