Please join Austin Women’s Real Estate Network (WREN) for our February event at Inn Cahoots on Wednesday, Feb 17th, from 6-8 as we join a panel of experts to discuss lending. We will have a conventional (1-4 units), commercial, private, and hard money lender panel to share the ins and outs of navigating the lending world. Our Panel: Kelly Smith- Hard Money Lender at Easy Street Capital Kelly Smith with Easy Street Capital is a Texas hard money lender that has closed over 850 loans totaling over $230mm across Texas. Kelly has immersed herself in the investment residential real estate space for 6+ years lending in the major metros as well as some secondary and tertiary markets. A proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Kelly holds a BA and has been a licensed real estate salesperson since 2010. Before becoming a hard money lender, Kelly spent almost 15 years in commercial real estate as an analyst, asset manager, and commercial sales broker specializing in retail (single and multi-tenant) properties. Melissa Muench- Conventional Loans Melissa Muench is a senior loan originator with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. Tamar Hermes- Private Money Lender Tamar Hermes is a full-time Real Estate Investor, educator, and money coach. She is the CEO and founder of Wealth Warrior Woman, where she guides women to become financially free through Real Estate Investing and creating an empowering relationship to money. Tamar grew up poor as the child of a Holocaust survivor and had no idea how people got rich. By chance, she stumbled upon Real Estate investing and became obsessed with the world of finance. While Tamar’s portfolio is extensive today, she enjoys passive investments including Private Money lending earning her a 12-20% annualized return. Tamar coaches clients across the country and blogs for Bigger Pockets while hunting for her next deal. Tamar’s desire is to support women to be free to choose how they spend their life and have the means to afford whatever they desire for themselves, their families, and others. She believes Real Estate Investing is the best way to grow wealth. She recently relocated from Los Angeles to Austin where she is enjoying the small city life and no state taxes! Commercial Lender -TBD Chris Miller is a native Austinite and a fifth generation Texan that is married to his wife of ten years (Kellie), has a 3 year old daughter (Molly) and a 12 year old rescue pup (Kirby). Chris grew up in North Austin with his parents and younger sister. After completing high school at Westwood High School, Chris continued his education at Baylor University in Waco, TX where he met his wife Kellie. Chris double majored in Finance and Marketing in the Hankamer School of Business. At Baylor he founded the school’s chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and held roles in recruitment and on the Executive Council as Secretary. He still serves as the President of the Baylor Pi Kapp Alumni Association. Chris started his career in banking as a Credit Analyst with Sterling Bank in Houston, TX, then transitioned to a Commercial Lender/Bank Officer role. Comerica Bank purchased Sterling Bank and Chris stayed with the organization for another 3 years as Commercial Banker working with Commercial Real Estate, Business Banking and Middle Market clients. In 2013, Kellie and Chris decided to move back to Austin. Chris joined Southside Bank to build out its commercial lending team in Austin. Focusing both on Commercial and Industrial (owner operated businesses) as well as Commercial Real Estate relationships. That includes acquisition and construction in the Multi-Family, Office, Industrial, and Retail sectors. That same year Chris joined the Young Men’s Business League of Austin (YMBL). Since joining YMBL, Chris served as the Chair or Recruiting, the VP of Membership, the Treasurer, and the President of the Organization. During this time, Chris also served on the Executive Council and as President of the YMBL founded non-profit, the Austin Sunshine Camps. Chris is also a graduate of the Banking School of Louisiana State University from 2011-2013. After graduating, he was asked to join the Board of Directors for the Graduate School of Banking at LSU by the Texas Banking Association. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering and giving back to the Austin community with YMBL and ASC, watching sports (particularly Baylor sports), investing in real estate, exploring Austin, reading (particularly books on history, business, science fiction), and working out.
