A Finish Blade Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of various pieces of equipment while performing duties associated with the excavation of soils, and installation and grading of soils and base gravels.
Understand and perform duties outlined on the start-up check list.
Experienced with, and knowledgeable of, laser and sonar set-ups.
Understand the controls and functions of the blade.
Operate all controls and functions in a safe and non-abusive manner.
Achieve acceptable rough and finish grade in all types of soils and conditions, in a timely manner (including ABC to ready-to-pave status).
Read and understand grades on stakes and plans; then apply them to the job.
Understand soils and densities.
Watch and report wear items early enough to be repaired in a scheduled manner (i.e. cutting edges, teeth, brass, hoses).
Keep equipment clean and free of trash, excess dirt and unrelated items. Keep windows clean and clean cab out daily.
Control the job during necessary absences of the Superintendent.
Special projects as needed.
Requirements:
This is a position for an experienced blade operator.
A professional background working with asphalt, building roads or maintainng parking lots is very helpful.
