Learn how to provide residential protection for at-risk individuals and families. Course Description Residential security, or estate protection, is a specialized service that requires assigning protective personnel to a principal’s residence and adjacent grounds for the purpose of providing physical security and surveillance. This course will provide students with the fundamental skills and tactics that are required to protect at-risk individuals, their families and their property from invasions of privacy, natural threats and disasters, home invasions and other intentional and unintentional threats. Course Topics Include: Physical security design strategies Physical security plans Protection objectives Equipment considerations The use of monitoring and intrusion detection systems Surveillance detection programs Use of force protocols Explosive device identification and mitigation techniques Inspection procedures Threat response protocols Single Officer Assailant Response (SOAR) Etiquette and integrating security into the principal’s lifestyle Instructor Michael Mann, CPP®, PSP®, CDEP has 30+ years’ experience in providing physical protection for both at risk personnel and critical facilities. Michael is a United States Marine Corps and civilian law enforcement veteran who has served as both a regional security manager and global physical security director for four large U.S. corporations. He has conducted and managed protective operations in both the private and public sector and he has completed executive protection training courses provided by R.L. Oatman and Associates; the Executive Protection Institute (EPI); Toni Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute (VDI); Research Electronics International (REI); the Sig Sauer Academy; and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs, Protective Security Operations Training Program (PSOTP). Michael has Master of Science (MS) Degree in Security and Risk Management; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews and he studied terrorism at Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Michael is also a 32- year student, practitioner and teacher of modern pistolcraft and self- defense. Michael currently serves as the Chapter Chair for the ASIS Middle Tennessee Chapter, and he is the Director, Physical Security for Smile Direct Club.
