Normally a person who wants to be a dental assistant would go to full time school for six (6) months to two (2) years. You would have to pay for books and tuition and would not be able to work. This means you would go into debt and lose work income while you go to school. This position offers in-house training at no cost to the new staff member. Dental assisting front office and back office PDF handbooks are provided so you need a home computer or laptop The trainee earns a training wage during the one year training period and must make a written commitment to one year. All study is at home and regular multiple-choice tests are given during lunchtime, usually Wednesdays There are no classroom lectures, however, video and audio are provided. All videos and audios are studied at home. The candidate must have a home computer that works with Adobe PDF files and can access the Internet. If you do not have Adobe PDF Reader, it can be downloaded for free. The candidate must love people and be comfortable speaking with people since this position involves close patient contact and close cooperation with the dentist. The Trainee MUST MAKE AT LEAST A ONE YEAR COMMITMENT TO THIS POSITION. This is a long term position with the hopes that the candidate grows and become part of our long term dental staff. Living a reasonable distance from the dental practice is important because traffic is a consideration in Atlanta when it is necessary to get to work on time. Benefits after 6 months of employment are available. Trainees are eligible for advanced certificates in Expanded Duties Dental Assisting after six months of employment. However, these certificated are not provided at our dental practice and the costs are at the trainee's expense.
