Description

HAMDEN, CT - In the wake of the national coin shortage, you can help put coins back into circulation while making a difference in the community by converting your spare change into cash as part of Connex Credit Union's Coins-for-Change program. From now through September 30, 2020, Connex will compile the small fees it charges for using its coin-cashing machines and donate the money to four charitable organizations. Anyone can participate in Coins-for-Change. You do not need to be a member of the credit union. The fee will be automatically deducted and donated from the cash you receive when you use one of the coin-cashing machines at the following locations by September 30: Connex's Guilford Branch located at 849 Boston Post Rd. to donate to the Branford Early Childhood Collaborative, an organization committed to ensuring all Branford children, and their families, have an opportunity to develop a sound foundation for learning during their critical developmental years. Funds raised will be used to support their community programs and resources. Connex's Hamden Branch located at 2100 Dixwell Ave. to donate to Clelian Adult Day Center, a special center that provides adult day services for elderly and disabled adults in a social and spiritual healthcare environment. Funds raised will help the facility continually develop beneficial programs that suit the needs and abilities of all their members. Connex's Monroe Branch located at 155 Main St. to donate to Arts for Learning, an organization dedicated to bringing high-quality, arts-integrated instruction into classrooms around the state that are accessible, supportive and welcoming to children of all backgrounds and abilities. Funds raised will help provide under-served children with an opportunity to foster creativity, experience the joy of performing and connect with professional artists. Connex's North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Ave. to donate to Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club, a club with locations in North Haven and Wallingford that provides outcome-based experiences designed to help young people foster academic success, good character and citizenship. Funds raised will help combat food insecurity by supporting their after-school snack program. Coins-for Change is offered as part of Connex's philanthropic initiative ConnexCares. New charities are selected each quarter and more than $14,000 is donated every year through the program. If you are a local nonprofit or charitable organization interested in participating in the Coins-for-Change program, please contact Roquita Johnson at [email protected] or 1-800-CR-UNION.
