Harford County To Mark 5 Years Since 2 Deputies Were Killed

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Five years after two Harford County sheriff's deputies were shot and killed in the line of duty, Harford County is honoring them in several ways. Lights, flags and a ceremony are part of the tribute. The Harford County government building will shine blue this week in support of law enforcement. County Executive Barry Glassman ordered the Harford County flag lowered from sunrise Friday through sunset Wednesday, Feb. 10, in tribute to Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon. Dailey and Logsdon died in the line of duty in Abingdon Feb. 10, 2016. Dailey was following up on a tip about a man in the Panera in the 3400 block of Merchant Boulevard who was wanted. When the officer approached the individual, the man produced a gun and shot him. After Logsdon pursued the suspect to the nearby residential area, he was also shot and killed by the gunman, who subsequently died in a gunfight with deputies. "Harford County will never forget the loss of Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon," Glassman said. "On this terrible anniversary, we continue to remember our fallen heroes, their families, and all those who risk their lives to protect our community." Glassman asked Harford County's volunteer fire companies to usher in a countywide moment of silence at noon Wednesday by sounding their sirens. A moment of silence will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 10, in front of the Harford County government building at 220 South Main Street in Bel Air.
