NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — New Brunswick Police are investigating a carjacking/aggravated assault that happened at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday in the area of French and Paterson streets. In the incident, the victim reported getting into a verbal argument with a group of unidentified men in a different Township. His car was then followed to New Brunswick by a car occupied by the same individuals involved in the previous dispute. When the victim stopped his vehicle, he was assaulted by the individuals with a sharp object. The suspects then fled the area in the victim's car, which was later recovered unoccupied. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The description of the suspects is limited at this time, but the original vehicle driven by the suspects was described as a gray SUV, possibly a Honda CRV or Volvo. The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the NBPD's Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
