Description
SANTA MONICA, CA — A new Target location is slated to open in downtown Santa Monica this spring.
The store will open sometime in March at 420 Broadway, near 5th Street, city officials told Patch. The exact date has not been announced yet.
The new location is at the former Fred Segal Santa Monica outpost, which closed permanently in 2016.
The nearly 24,000 square foot, one-story retail space has been a store or market since 1921, according to city records.
It is the second Target store to open in Santa Monica. The first replaced the former Staples location at 1610 Wilshire Blvd., near 16th Street.
Target has several other new California locations planned for 2021, including several stores in the Los Angeles area: Ventura Boulevard in Encino, Hollywood and near Echo Park in the Westlake neighborhood.
