NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTS SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE Jose A. Lorenzo Gurierrez, 22, of the 2400 block of N Lowell, Chicago, is accused of driving with a suspended driver's license, disregarding a traffic control device, no insurance, and was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Jan. 29 at Dundee and Pfingsten roads. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of March 16 in Skokie. INCIDENTS CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT A citizen reported at 12:43 p.m. Jan. 30 that new graffiti was placed in two locations in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane.An officer found what appeared to be new graffiti at 7:01 p.m. Jan. 30 on a utility box at Angle and Lincoln avenues. An officer on a routine patrol discovered graffiti at 7:17 p.m. Jan. 31 on a traffic signal box at Church and Shermer roads. An officer observed at 10:58 p.m. Feb. 3 that someone had placed new graffiti on a sign in the 1700 block of Walters Avenue. FRAUD A Skokie Boulevard resident called police at 3:43 p.m. Feb. 1 to report they received emails from someone they believed to have been from the IRS and ICE. The emails requested that the complainant make payments to them regarding an immigration issue. The complainant reported that they authorized bank transfers and purchased gift cards that were given to the unknown person. THREATENING TELEPHONE CALL A Pfingsten Road resident reported at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 that they received a message from an unknown person threatening them unless they sent money to them. The complainant did not send money. COUNTERFEITING An employee at Best Buy, 800 block of Willow Road, called police at 1:34 p.m. Feb. 3 to report someone used four counterfeit $100 bills to make a purchase. BATTERY A customer at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 2:13 p.m. Feb. 3 that while they were in a checkout lane, another person struck them with their cart. THREATS A staff member at Glenbrook North High School called police at 2:55 p.m. Feb. 3 to report that they received a telephone call from a former student who was upset about an incident from the past. The person that made the call was contacted and informed that they could not be on the school property. Officers concluded that there was no credible threat to the school or community. HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC DEVICE A Skokie Boulevard resident reported at 10:03 p.m. Feb. 3 that they were receiving unwanted text messages from a known person.
