HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken public schools will have a delayed opening on Monday (Feb. 8) following a fresh snowfall on Sunday that totalled 5 inches in Hudson County. There was still snow on the ground from last week's nor'easter, which already had caused the schools to have a snow day and two days of remote learning last week. "As you can see, it is snowing outside," Superintendent Christine Johnson wrote on Sunday. "While it appears it will end in the later afternoon hours, the suspension of street cleaning and the fact that emergency snow routes are in effect poses real parking problems for our staff. I am going to begin with a delayed opening schedule for tomorrow in order to provide time for staff to get in and find parking." She wrote, "K-12 (and PSD) school hours for both onsite and remote learning students will be from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-K hours for HOPES and Mile Square Programs (both onsite and remote) will be from 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m." She said questions can be directed to her. The public schools are presently scheduled to be closed Friday and the following Monday for President's Day. Forecasters say we may be in for more snow later this week, particularly Thursday and Friday. Specifically for the Hoboken area, the National Weather Service predicts a little snow Tuesday and Thursday.
