HOBOKEN, NJ — Following a Super Bowl Sunday snowfall of more than 5 inches in Hudson County, cars were allowed to return to parking on emergency routes, the city announced Monday morning. However, prepare to move your car again: Street sweeping goes back into effect Tuesday, so make note of the signs where you're parked. Not to mention that the National Weather Service predicts a little snow Tuesday and Thursday for the Hoboken area. "The Department of Environmental Services will utilize the street cleaning period to remove snow from parking lanes to facilitate more parking availability," the city wrote. "Residents are asked to please move vehicles during street cleaning periods. Street cleaning is currently scheduled to resume for the full remainder of the week as well (Tuesday, February 9 through Friday, February 12)." But, the city noted, "The city will notify residents if that changes based on updated weather forecasts for the week." Here are more rules: Emergency snow routes no longer in effect: Washington Street (Both Sides) Observer Highway – (Both Sides) Henderson St to Hudson St Willow Avenue West Side – Observer Hwy to 11th St 3rd Street – North Side – Jackson St to River St 4th Street – South Side – River St to Jackson St 5th Street- South Side – Clinton St to River St 9th Street – North Side – Jackson St to Castle Point Terrace 13th Street – North Side – Washington St to Madison St 13th Street – South Side – Washington St to Hudson St Keeping sidewalks clear Property owners/occupants are reminded that they have six (6) hours after the completion of a storm to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property. Residents are urged to assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties. It is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants. The city performs proactive inspections and also relies on citizen complaints to help us identify those property owners that are not meeting sidewalk safety requirements. The city will issue fines to those who do not keep sidewalks clear. Reporting problems To report an unplowed street, unshoveled sidewalk, or other problem, residents can submit an online complaint via https://www.hobokennj.gov/311. The 311 mobile app may not be working for some users, who should report unshoveled sidewalks via the link. Discounted Garage Parking available only until Monday, 4 p.m. A special rate of $5 per 24 hour period is being offered in Garages B (28 2nd Street) and D (215 Hudson Street) to residents with a valid Resident On-Street Parking Permit or Temporary Parking Permit, through Monday (Feb. 8) at 4 p.m. In addition, Hoboken residents with disabilities who possess either a handicapped license plate or hang tag for their permitted vehicle may also park in the Midtown garage (371 Fourth St.) for the same reduced rate. Garage space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Regular rates apply at other times. Residents who have a valid Resident On-Street Parking Permit or Temporary Parking Permit are reminded that overnight parking (6 p.m. to 8 a.m.) is available at a rate of $5 in Garages B, D and Midtown every day of the year. Street cleaning suspended Monday While street cleaning is still suspended until Tuesday, meters will remain in effect to help facilitate the clearing of parking lanes in commercial districts. All other parking rules and regulations will remain in effect. Parking in school zones – permitted Sunday, prohibited Monday Parking was prohibited in school zones beginning at 7:45 a.m. Monday. Trash and recycling Trash collection and recycling remain on schedule.
