WESTLAKE, OH — There was a three-car accident involving a drunken driver on Wednesday, Westlake police announced.
On Wednesday evening, police were sent to investigate a car crash at the Crocker-Detroit intersection. A car had rear-ended another vehicle, causing a chain reaction of crashes, a police spokesperson said.
All three cars involved in the accident had to be towed.
The driver that started the chain reaction, a 29-year-old from Lakewood, appeared to be intoxicated, police said. She was taken into custody and driven to Westlake Jail. Officers also found a marijuana cigarette in her car.
At the jail, the 29-year-old took a breath test and 2.5 times over the legal limit for alcohol. She was cited with prohibited breath alcohol content, operating a vehicle impaired, failure to maintain assured clear distance and possession of marijuana.
The 29-year-old was later released to a sober friend, police said.
