Flying Buffaloes make their way back to Sidetracks Music Hall Doors 6:30pm 21 and up Event No Refunds Flying buffaloes Flying Buffaloes is a five-piece Alt-Country/Rock band based out of East Nashville, TN. Performing regularly along Nashville's neon strip, the group quickly earned the reputation of being one of the most hard-working, sonically-tight, and energetic bands in Music City. With appearances at some of Nashville's biggest live venues and showcases, including Legend's Corner, The Local, Mercy Lounge, Exit/In, Basement East, Loser's Whiskey Jam, and Tin Roof's Bus Call, the Flying Buffaloes took their kinetic show on the road in 2018. The group made appearances at festivals, headlined a Midwest tour, performed in Hawaii, completed a tour in Texas opening for acclaimed Red Dirt Country artist, Wade Bowen, and in 2019, opened a string of shows with Drivin' and Cryin'. Their debut EP, Taking Off, received regional mainstream country and rock radio airplay, and the band’s debut single and 360° music video, "Hey ;) Is For Horses," garnered praise on Huffington Post. However, Flying Buffaloes’ biggest achievement to date is their debut LP, Loaded & Rollin’. A deeply personal album, Loaded & Rollin’ features the first songs co-written by the band. It explores, in addition to the isolation and depression associated with immigration, the ups-and-downs of love, relationships, and the essence of what it means to be a working Nashville band. Recorded at Battle Tapes Studio in East Nashville by Grammy award winning engineer/mixer/producer Jeremy Ferguson (Cage The Elephant / Steelism / Andrew Combs), Loaded & Rollin’ harkens to classic rock and outlaw country albums of the 1970s. The production captures the band’s raw energy in-studio and aims to give the listener a taste of Flying Buffaloes’ captivating live performance. Sylvia Rose Novak has been called “a musician in a class all her own”. After years of hoofing through and establishing herself in the Southern folk-country scene, Novak has finally embraced her hard-edged southern roots and the gothicism of her home region by creating her first full-fledged rock record. What her newfound dedication to her art has amounted to is a swaggering shakedown of her songwriting abilities, trading in her cowboy boots for punk-rock leather. Though she has had impressive opening slots for the likes of Sarah Shook and The Disarmers, American Aquarium, and Vandoliers, amongst numerous others, Novak’s upcoming release Bad Luck is a palette cleanser of an album and the perfect starting point for music fans unfamiliar with her acerbic insights on addiction, maturation, and the human condition. Bad Luck’s attitude is the sound of fingers worked to the bone, of bloodied fists gripping the final drink of the night, of ragged guitars endlessly beating the truth out of the songwriter.
