UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – Newly-released data is revealing a grim picture of COVID-19-related deaths in nursing home patients in New York City, including at a facility in the Upper West Side. The New York Department of Health has updated it chart of statewide nursing home COVID-19-related deaths to include data through Feb. 4, and added a column that identifies deaths that occurred outside of the nursing home facilities. The deaths that occurred in hospitals had previously been included in the total statewide tally. At The Riverside in the Upper West Side, the data shows there were 16 coronavirus-related deaths in nursing home patients identified as happening "out of facility," which means the patients died at hospitals. The updated data reports 50 confirmed COVID-19-related deaths at the facility, and 18 presumed COVID-19-related deaths at the facility. As of Feb. 4, there have been a total of 84 COVID-19-related deaths at the facility, including the deaths of The Riverside patients who died at hospitals. Previously-released data as of Jan. 31 had shown 50 confirmed at-facility COVID-19 deaths and 18 presumed at-facility COVID-19 deaths at the The Riverside.
