a Florida based server farm that was routing"tens of millions of scam calls " from a criminal ring in India to America. Victims lost over $20 million in personal funds. Foreign callers allegedly pretended to be either Social Security or IRS employees stating that Social Security numbers were involved with a crime. They would then threaten to arrest the person if they did not send the caller money and would have the victims send them gift cards as payment.
REPORTS from the newspaper , India West, and the Atlanta news services reported that an investigation by the Atlanta US Attorney's office revealed that Defendants Gupta and E Sampark of India maintained approximately 60 servers in Florida for this purpose .The newspaper reported that servers contained over 130,000 recordings of scam calls, including robocall voicemail recordings and conversations between the India-based scammers and U.S.-based victims.
