Door Technician Helper A successful Greenpoint Brooklyn based commercial door service company is looking to hire an entry level door technician helper. The individual will assist in the installation and repair of both manual and automatic doors including installation of hardware and basic electrical circuits. Our company provides emergency response services working primarily for hospitals and airports. As such, applicant must be able to work flexible hours including extended hours/overtime and weekends in various indoor/outdoor conditions. The majority of our work is performed at customer sites. Applicant may meet at the shop or jobsites throughout the 5 boroughs. This position reports to the senior technician and must be able to complete some skilled & physical labor and technical tasks in addition to cleanup & general jobsite duties. Skills • Most be proficient in the use of power & hand tools • Experience in similar work with carpentry, electrical, HVAC and/or diagnostic skills are required • Familiar with measurements in fractions and metric • Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 75 pounds regularly in the process of door installation Responsibilities will include assisting with the repair and installation of manual/automated doors including all aspects of hardware (motors, operators, locks and wiring) and ensuring service is completed efficiently while providing excellent customer service. Essential Functions Knowledge and understanding of products, power and hand tools to complete required service and repair tasks. Professional communication skills to interact with clients and staff. There is substantial room for growth through the development of mechanical skills, learning new techniques, and remaining current with product requirements for installation and maintaining quality workmanship. Education, Training, Experience • 2 to 3 years’ experience working with tools in the service industry • Ability to read blue prints is a plus • Valid driver’s license optional • Professional Ethics a must as there will be client interactions • Ideal candidate must be punctual and able to pass drug test Email resume, experience and contact info
