HazMat/Environmental Clean-up company is looking for full-time haz-mat cleanup technicians in the Sacramento and surrounding areas. Position is for environmental waste clean-up on both outside and inside projects and the ability to lift 35#. Applicants must have a valid commercial driver's license and flexibility to work non-standard hours when needed. Driving records will be checked. This is an hourly position with a 90 day probationary period. Upon completion of probation, company benefits include personal leave and holiday pay and paid life/health insurance for employee. Specific experience in haz mat clean-up is not necessary but a plus. Pre-employment and random drug screening is required. Safety training will be provided and adherence to rules of safety will be mandatory. Pay will be based off of abilities and experience. Description: Hazmat Technician DEFINITION Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and /Branch Representative, the hazmat technician will be responsible to adhere to all applicable requirements of the installations Hazardous Material/Waste Management Plan. Will be responsible for handling/transporting hazardous or toxic materials in a safe manner to minimize safety hazard, prevent spills, and reduce/eliminate Hazardous Waste generation. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Prepares job sites for hazardous materials removal and disposal 2. Understand SDS for all hazardous materials used in the work place. 3. Respond to Non & Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste spills and cleanup with flexibility to work non-standard hours when needed. 4. Monitors air to verify clean environment after removal or to assess conditions. 5. The collection, packaging of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and/or waste. 6. Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors. 7. Keeps required records of work performed 8. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. 9. Able to lift 35Lbs or more. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: • Federal, State and OSHA regulations, desirable • Ability to work within a team or independently as required • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing • MANDATORY eligible driver's license with ability to handle box type trucks. Education/Training: High school graduate and/or GED equivalent preferred. The following certifications are a plus....but training can be provided: 40 hr HAZWOPER Certification 10 hr OSHA DOT Rules Other Requirements: MUST POSSESS A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND HAVE A SATISFACTORY DRIVING RECORD Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator and able to obtain a satisfactory fit test for respirators. Able to work in extreme conditions, i.e. heat, cold
