PITTSBURGH, PA - There's nothing necessarily wrong with Latrobe. In non-coronavirus years, thousands of people trek to the Westmoreland County town each summer to watch Steeler camp activities at St. Vincent College. But having Iron City Beer brewed there just never seemed right. Perhaps it was the more than 140-year-tradition of having Irons brewed in Lawrenceville until those activities were contracted out to the Latrobe Brewery a dozen years ago. Iron City isn't coming back to Lawrenceville, but it's at least returning to Allegheny County. The Pittsburgh Brewing Company announced this week it's building a new brewery on a former PPG glass plate plant site in East Deer. That's still not exactly within city limits.
