Press release from Murrieta Valley Unified School District: Measure BB Oversight Committee Murrieta Valley Unified School District is seeking community members to serve for a two-year term on the Measure BB Citizens' Oversight Committee. The purpose of the committee is to insure that the balance of the Measure BB funds is used in accordance with the intention of the voters and with the highest possible level of efficiency to serve the educational needs of the children of our community. To assure broad-based representation, committee members must be in one of the following groups: Business representative, senior citizen, parent of MVUSD student, member of a taxpayer organization, an at-large community member or parent active in MVUSD PTA. The bond funds will allow the district to complete the next level of upgrades to Murrieta Valley USD education technology and school facilities. "The voters have ensured that MVUSD can continue to provide the quality education Murrieta is known for, our stakeholders expect and our students deserve." Measure BB Campaign Co-Chair Robin Crist said, "As co-chair for Measure BB I am grateful to our community for their continued support of our young people and I am excited for the new opportunities that will be offered to our students!" "A lot of work needs to be done now as we move forward to prioritize repairs to school buildings and grounds, upgrades to classrooms, labs, career-training facilities and implementing the 15-year technology plan," said Bill Olien, Assistant Superintendent of Facilities." "We will continue to engage in an inclusive process with input from the Ed Tech Committee and a Measure BB Oversight Committee," said Olien. "Together we will develop a considered and methodical approach to using Measure BB Bond funds in accordance with the voter's wishes." What will Measure BB do? The $98,000,000 bond measure will allow the district to upgrade outdated Murrieta K-12 classrooms, labs, career-training facilities, and education technology; rehabilitate deteriorated roofs, plumbing, electrical, lighting, HVAC, flooring, buildings and grounds; acquire/construct/equip sites, classrooms, and facilities; upgrade safety/security systems; and improve science, technology, engineering, and math instructional facilities required for college/career success.
