1 Killed, Others Injured In Hotel Shooting

BLOOMINGDALE, IL — One person is dead following a shooting at Indian Lakes Hotel in Bloomingdale early Saturday, authorities said. Police believe one or more shooters may still be on the lam and that the incident is isolated. Officers responded to the hotel at 250 W. Schick Road at about 2:35 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of shots fired on the fifth floor. When police arrived, they spotted several people fleeing the scene, according to a news release from the Bloomingdale Police Department. Four to six people were shot and all were taken to an area hospital where one was later pronounced dead, Bloomingdale Public Safety Director Frank Giammarese told ABC 7 Chicago. The conditions of those injured in the shooting is not immediately available. The identity of the person killed in the shooting is not immediately being released. Police believe one shooter or more may have fled the scene, and no one had been arrested as of Saturday morning, Giammarese told ABC 7. Early on Saturday, police asked the public to avoid the area around the hotel. They also said in a statement on Facebook that there was no "imminent threat" to the community. The shooting is being investigated by the Bloomingdale Police Department and the DuPage County Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team.
