Description

Acme Markets is getting rid of Instacart for its online ordering and curbside pickup. A spokesman for the grocery chain, which runs more than 160 stores including many in the Philadelphia region, told Patch that Acme is launching its own "Drive Up and Go" online ordering system. "In doing so we are discontinuing the use of Instacart as our curbside pickup partner," she said Friday in an email. Instacart will continue providing grocery delivery services from Acme stores through the Instacart website, she said. In Philadelphia and its suburbs, the change will shift about 60 jobs from Instacart to in-house positions with Acme, spokeswoman Dana Ward said. Ward said that by bringing the service in-house, Acme will be able to provide a better service for customers, indluding the ability to take advantage of sale prices, coupons, loyalty points and the like, which is not available when using Instacart.
