FOXBOROUGH, MA — Do you know someone who has worked unselfishly to make the community better? Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott launched a new 'Norfolk County Heroes" award program designed to recognize acts of heroism, community building and public service by Norfolk County residents. "We all know people who are motivated by a desire to make life better and safer for others," McDermott said. "They're the people who keep our communities thriving. Norfolk County is full of these kinds of heroes, and it's important that we take every opportunity to recognize them. The Norfolk County Heroes award is one way that we can honor the hard work of those whose actions make life better for everyone else." Starting Friday, nominations will be accepted online for the award. Recipients will receive a certificate of merit from McDermott, have their name listed as a Norfolk County hero on the sheriff's website, and be recognized in a ceremony. Because of COVID-19 precautions, a later group ceremony will be held to recognize all awardees who received their award during the pandemic. "I encourage anyone who knows someone deserving recognition for their acts of selflessness and heroism to nominate them for this award," McDermott said.
