DANVERS, MA — Exit signs along the North Shore are getting a new look next week. As part of the state's move to milepost-based signs, the Route 128 corridor from Gloucester and Peabody will be switched out starting Sunday. Signs will be replaced in both directions. The sign installation operations will take place from 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day with the process expected to take eight nights. The work was delayed from earlier this week because of the snowstorm. Exits on Route 3 southbound from Tyngsboro to Burlington will also be replaced at this time. The project, which began in October, involves switching current exit numbers to ones based on mileage, bringing the state in line with federal highway mandates. Massachusetts, Delaware and New Hampshire were the only three states to not have started work on converting to a mileage-based system. Did you find this article useful?
