BURLINGTON, MA — One hundred Burlington residents were vaccinated Wednesday at the town's first Phase 2 vaccine clinic for residents over 75, according to a BCAT report.
Ed Weiner, the chair of the town's Board of Health, told BCAT's Rich Hosford that the clinic went smoothly but they would have vaccinated many more people if the state gave the town more vaccines.
The state extended vaccine eligibility to people 75 and older Wednesday, but the supply remains constrained, with many towns including Burlington receiving only 100 doses per week.
"As soon as we get the vaccine, we open up a clinic," Weiner said. "We have been provided with very few doses."
The town asked for 800 doses and received only 100 this week, Weiner said.
Weiner thanked the town's medical reserve corps who made the clinic go smoothly.
He recommended that seniors trying to get the vaccine either go to the town's vaccine website, mass.gov/covidvaccinemap, or call the town senior center at 781-270-1950.
