PROVIDENCE, RI — With yet another large party holiday coming up this weekend, Rhode Island Department of Health Director Nicole Alexander-Scott reminded residents the continued importance of avoiding social gatherings and "protecting your household." This Sunday is the Super Bowl — a day traditionally marked by groups of friends crammed together on the couch, shouting in unison and large bowls of shared finger foods. All of these are major concerns for coronavirus transmission, which has just gotten under control in Rhode Island. "Many of you many not know I'm a huge football fan, so it's a big day," Dr. Alexander-Scott said, adding that she will be watching the big game at homer, with members of her household. The social gathering limit is still limited to single households in Rhode Island, meaning parties are off-limits at this time. Instead, Rhode Islanders are again urged to get creative: hosting virtual watch parties with friends while avoiding in-person gatherings. "Keep it small, keep it simple and just watch the game in person with the people you live with," Alexander-Scott said.
