PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield has a lot to offer since last weekend's snowstorm (have you seen the giant polar bear sculptures?), and residents are now stopping by another house to take in a magnificent sight. Kelly Thorsen and her family, who live on Plainfield-Naperville Road just north of the train tracks, built a giant 18-foot snowman. "We promised we'd try to top it as soon as we had enough snow." Thorsen said it took them almost six to seven hours, and it was a group effort by her husband, Zach Liberatore, father-in-law, Andy Liberatore and her brother-in-law, Kevin Nickel. The snowman has already attracted a lot of attention and although it seems like a lot of work, Zach said it wasn't difficult at all, just "time consuming." "We just made sure each ball had a good base so it wouldn't fall over," he said. Another Plainfield family on Rolf Road between Route 59 and Lily Cache built a smaller but equally adorable snowman. "We finally got a decent snow and wanted to build a snowman," Jessica McLaughlin said. "It was great packing snow." She said it took them three hours with small breaks in between. She was helped by her 4-year-old son Mikey and her husband Mike, who "did a great job watching." Courtesy of Jessica McLaughlin Do you have photos of snow sculptures you'd like to show?
