ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a school bus vs. fire engine crash, road rage, DUIs, a missing rental car, unauthorized withdrawals and damage to a car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: School bus vs. parked fire engine William Cavico, 74, of Villa Park, was cited about 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of North York on a charge of injuring property. He was released on bond. He was involved in an accident that was listed as a "school bus vs. parked fire engine." It took place at the city's fire station at 404 N. York St. Road rage A road rage incident happened at 6 a.m. Tuesday at Commonwealth Lane and Butterfield Road. A person told police that another driver got out of his car and damaged both of the person's side mirrors. The suspect then drove away in a silver SUV, last seen headed west on Butterfield. Officers were unable to find the suspect. DUI Rafael Casas Jr., 40, of Hammond, Ind., was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday at North and Willow on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, no seat belt, operating an uninsured vehicle and illegal transportation of open alcohol. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. In the same stop, Rafael Casas III, 19, of Hammond, Ind., was cited on charges of consumption of alcohol by a minor and no seat belt. He was released on bond. Jose Perez Verduzco, 35, of Cicero, was arrested about 11 p.m. Wednesday at North and Berteau on charges of DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. He was released on bond. Rental car missing Hertz, 856 N. York St., reported that a customer failed to return a rental car on the agreed-upon date of Feb. 24, 2020. Hertz said it had made numerous attempts to find the car, but has been unsuccessful. Unauthorized withdrawals A resident in the 100 block of Mayo Court told police that money was withdrawn from her unemployment account without her authorization Wednesday. The victim later stated her friend admitted to taking the money and returned it. The victim did not wish to pursue charges. Upon further investigation, police found the victim had an active order of protection that had not been served. An officer then served her the order. A person in the 400 block of North York Street told police Monday that she had permitted an unknown suspect remote access to her computer. The suspect then was able to withdraw money from her bank account. The victim reported the fraud to her bank and froze her accounts. Damage A windshield of a car was damaged between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. Driving violations Clare Songco, 19, of Elmhurst, was cited about 8 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of North York on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. In the same incident, Sebastian Filimowicz, 48, of Chicago, was cited on a charge of operating an uninsured vehicle. They were released on bond. Jeremy Inniss, 20, of Riverdale, was cited about 6 a.m. Tuesday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect, on a charge of failure to leave information after striking an unattended motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Elmer Garcia-Currillo, 26, of Elmhurst, was cited about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Kenilworth and North End on charges of no valid driver's license and driving with only one headlight. He was released on bond. Aleksander Kominowski, 21, of Northlake, was cited at 2 a.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and St. Charles on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and driving with one headlight. He was released on bond. Angel Camacho, 63, of Chicago, was cited about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at North and York on charges of operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of open alcohol. He was released on bond. Omar Hernandez, 20, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at 440 W. Lake on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant and cited on charges of driving with a suspended license and failure to yield. He was released on bond. Francisco Perez, 44, of Bensenville, was cited about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at York and Wrightwood on charges of no valid driver's license and one headlight. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
