Beating Death Outside Bar: No Arrests Yet

DES PLAINES, IL — A homicide investigation continues into the death of a Rolling Meadows man last month following an altercation in the parking lot of a sports bar in Des Plaines. Police said Wednesday that no one is in custody for a Jan. 24 fight involving two disputing groups outside of Rand Road House, 864 Rand Road. Thomas B. Adamowski, 34, of Rolling Meadows, died from blunt head trauma two days after the incident, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The fight occurred at around 3:25 a.m. between four to six people from two disputing groups, along with others that tried to break up the melee, according to a release. Police investigators are trying to determine what started the altercation, as there are currently conflicting reports from witnesses. No one is in custody at this time and no charges have been filed. Police responded to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 8 a.m. Jan. 24 when they became aware of Adamowski's injuries. An investigation was started immediately, according to the release. Adamowski died at the hospital on Jan. 26. The Des Plaines Police Department said it is continuing to work with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, along with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on this continuing investigation. According to an online obituary, Adamowski leaves behind a wife and child. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am. Feb. 11 at Christ Church of Oakbrook, 501 Oak Brook Road, Oakbrook. Interment will be private.
