New Coronavirus Cases Continue Monthlong Slide In Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Buffalo Grove has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 2,889 people have contracted COVID-19 in Buffalo Grove since the outbreak began. That is an increase of 43 cases since Patch's last report on Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 93 cases between Jan. 21-28 and 125 cases between Jan. 14-21. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 52,478 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 927 cases since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,234 cases between Jan. 21-28. In addition, there have been 868 deaths, marking an increase of seven since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 35 deaths between Jan. 21-28. The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 97.9 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 54,419 people have been tested across Buffalo Grove (zip codes 60069, 60089) as of Friday. That's an increase of 1,179 people tested since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 2,165 tests between Jan. 21-28. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 32 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove since April 6. That marks two new deaths since our last report on Jan. 28. Buffalo Grove Schools Get $4.4M In COVID-19 Relief Funding As of Friday, there have been 974 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 21 cases since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 42 cases between Jan. 21-28. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,809 3,810 confirmed coronavirus cases and 593 513 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. These numbers both indicate decreases in the numbers Patch reported on Jan. 28. In the past, the IDPH has twice temporarily removed some cases and deaths since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
