Description

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville Schools teachers and staff will receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Feb. 11. "We hope that the vaccination for our staff is the first step in getting back to some consistency and stability for our students, parents, and staff so that we can continue to provide the premier educational experience we all want for our students," Superintendent Cameron Ryba said in a statement. Faculty will go to the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio to receive their shots. Gov. Mike DeWine struck a bargain with Ohio schools at the beginning of the year — agree to reopen by March 1 and teachers and staff can receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Nearly every school district in Ohio agreed to the deal, including Strongsville. Due to a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, the state won't be able to complete the vaccination process for most teachers by March 1. All faculty should receive at least the first dose of the vaccine before reopening. Strongsville teachers and faculty will receive their second shot of the vaccine on March 4. The Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio has been designated to direct the vaccine distribution process for public schools, including Strongsville.
