Seeking 2 new crew members to join our team this year for gardening and landscaping. We are a small local business that does both residential garden maintenance as well as high-end landscape design/build projects. And while the candidate would either be a garden maintenance or landscaping crew member we do sometimes get to bounce around and help out on different types of projects. GARDEN MAINTENANCE POSITION: Experience requirements: - At least 1 year working on either a professional gardening or landscaping crew -Must be able to pass quiz identifying common plants used in Colorado landscape trade (bonus points for knowing the scientific names) -At least 1 year working seasonally i.e. farming, landscaping, gardening etc. -Must have general knowledge of horticultural principles i.e. soil science, plant health, insect ID, etc. Job description: We generally work 4-5 days a week during peak season (May-August) and 3-4 days a week early spring and in fall. So this is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a little more flexibility in his or her schedules throughout the year. That being said, it’s important that you are accountable and available the majority of the time. Day to day job duties include: -Visiting 2-4 garden maintenance clients per day to perform tasks such as spring/fall cleanups, pruning of woody plants, deadheading of roses, perennials and annuals, pest identification, disease identification, general knowledge of plant families to assist in keying and identifying. Often times garden maintenance crew members will help out with bigger landscape install projects which may include building dry creek beds, working on drip irrigation, planting perennials, trees, and shrubs. Sometimes we will ride from site to site together in a company truck and sometimes you will be asked to drive a personal vehicle to meet on site. Reliable vehicle required. The use of a variety of handheld tools and ability to bend stoop and dig all are necessary. Irrigation repair experience is also desired. This would be a seasonal position with possibilities for long-term employment, upward mobility, and potential employee ownership. Candidate would need to be available throughout the summer season with hours ranging from 20-40/week depending on workload. Horticulture students from CSU or Front Range welcome, we are happy to work around school schedules in the spring and fall. LANDSCAPE CREW POSITION: Experience requirements: - At least 1 year working on a professional landscaping crew, we check references -Must have an interest and passion for horticulture and plants, if you have not taken classes you must at least be willing to learn about plants. -At least 1 year working seasonally i.e. farming, landscaping, gardening etc. Desired Skills/Experiences: Construction, Carpentry, Irrigation, Landscape Installation, Stonework e.g. flagstone, pavers, experience with plants, trees, shrubs, and perennials. Job Description: We generally work 4-5 days a week during peak season (May-August) and 3-4 days a week early spring and in fall. Day to day job duties include: -Construction and renovations of landscapes by taking up sod with sod cutter, planting trees, shrubs, and perennials, irrigation work on drip lines and sprinklers, placing large boulders with mini-loader, building pathways and berms, moving and spreading rock. This can be a very labor intensive job with long hours working out in the sun so it is critical that you have endurance and strength.
