Hello! I teach guitar lessons in the Santa Barbara area. If you are new to guitar or have been playing for a bit and are feeling like you could use some guidance and training, I would love to help you gain the foundational knowledge and confidence you need. A bit about me: I have been playing guitar for 15 years. I took lessons myself for a number of years, and have played in several bands as well as both rhythm and lead guitarist. The primary style of music that I play in my free time is a culmination of blues, jazz and hard rock. My goal for students: Learning to play guitar can be a daunting task for someone just starting off. Even those that have been playing for years reach frustrating “plateau” points in their playing. My goal for my clients is to give you a strong foundation, built on understanding and progressing from the basics. Some of the points I stress in my lessons: Understanding music notes and how they are applied to the guitar, guitar terminology, string names orientation and tunings, fret layout, fretting and picking hand technique, scales and chords. I integrate these points in beginning lessons and make sure to dial the student in while making steady and exciting progress each lesson. While a lot of practice will be critical for the student to maintain on their own, a little guidance from an experienced player will surely eliminate trial and error and help you progress at the rate you should be.
