Professional world class horse training facility in search of qualified and ambitious assistant trainer familiar with pleasure horses/quarter horses Ideal candidate must have RECENT experience with horses, knowledge of cleaning stalls, feeding, lunging, grooming and saddling multiple horses. This is a position which benefits from a strong teamwork ethic, the ability to follow instruction, use common sense and observation to see when things need to be done and a firm knowledge of horses. The assistant training/barn manager is the MOST vital role of our company, and only applicants that fit the description will be considered. Understanding training methods and the ability to learn in a situational atmosphere are key ingredients to a successful assistant trainer. Job Description: The assistant trainer is responsible for implementing the exercise and training routines set in place by the trainer. Often they provide initial training contact with a young or troublesome animal and they are instrumental in creating a foundation of general etiquette and manners. Responsibilities -Implementing exercise routines developed by the trainer -Following and updating supplement/feed schedules -Hire and manage stall cleaning staff -Basic under saddle work -Ground work -Preparing trainer lessons -Instruction of beginner riders -Correcting some behavioral issues -Duties can be interchangeable, candidates must be willing and able to perform a variety of farm related tasks, from stall cleaning to fencing and everything in between MUST HAVES: Reliable transportation with OPEN availability. physically fit and able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis. This job is for those PASSIONATE about horses and familiar with the work entailed, excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge in the field. Attention to detail Ability to work unsupervised Organizational skills Multi-Task Strong leadership skills Great communication skills Ability to learn from Critiques/feedback without becoming defensive Must be 18+ Willing to travel No psychical limitations (horses are large and their strength is great) OPEN AVAILABILITY -Highly desire someone with tractor and towing experience -Housing available to the right individual -Again, must be physically able to complete the tasks required (heavy lifting, walking, occasionally *leaping or *running out of the way-not often but possible) This job is intended for a self starter, go getter, motivated, detailed and fit employee looking for a long term position in which to grow at a top notch training facility in the area.
