Press release from Lindenhurst Union Free School District:
Feb. 2, 2021
Students in Leighann Hollweg's first grade class at Harding Avenue Elementary School in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District recently explored the joys of reading and writing with Dr. Lisa Omeis, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and author of the "Henry Has No Manners."
Via Google Meet, Dr. Omeis took part in an interactive read aloud with the class, sharing with them the silly antics of her sheep-a-doodle Henry. Additionally, she encouraged the students to write stories about their pets and the things they love in their lives. " You can all be authors too," said Dr. Omeis who encouraged the students to share their stories with her.
Dr. Omeis has dedicated a copy of the book to each Lindenhurst elementary school library and hopes that sharing the book will not only bring a smile to students' faces but will encourage them to write about their own experiences as well.
